What do you think?

So I have 10 days ( hopefully not more) untill our baby arrives and we think we have names picked out. I was just wondering what you guys thought of how they sounded?





Girl- Ashli Jade


Boy- Blake Onyx





Supposed to be girl, but you never know LOL!

What do you think?
Girl - I like the name I'm just worried that your daughter will constantly be correcting the spelling. I've never seen Ashley spelled Ashli...It looks nice on paper, though! I think Jade is a beautiful name and Ashli Jade flows nicely!





Boy - LOVE Blake! And I think Onyx is a cool middle name. It balances out the simplicity of the name Blake and gives your son's name an edge over those with two "simple" names.

Blake Onyx-not so much. Blake is good but Onyx is feminine to me. Obviously you are trying to do the gemstone thing. My grandfather's name was Beyrl (a gemstone). Maybe Blake Beyrl? I also like Blake Angus (not a gemstone but sounds good) or Blake Oliver (if you want to keep the O name)

Reply:I like the first names. I am more traditional about names so I'd go with traditional names for the middle name. But congratulations! That is awesome! I don't know you but the birth of a child is awesome. I am sure any name you pick will be great.

Reply:Yeah, they are both good. Ashlie is the spelling I am familiar with, but whatever is your preference (from someone whose name gets spelled wrong all of the time though, it can be kind of annoying).

Reply:Ashli is a ridiculous spelling. Your poor daughter will forever have to spell her name out and correct people because you wanted to be unique and different. If you must use this name just go with Ashley. Ashley Jade is OK, very predictable





Blake is nice, Onyx is ugly but not too bad tucked away in the middle name spot.

I think that "Ashli Jade" is very pretty for a girl. One thing to consider is that by spelling Ashli with an i, your daughter more than likely won't be able to buy things with her name on them. This of course is no huge deal, but my name is not common. At the beach or wherever, I could never buy the cups, pens, keychains, etc. with my name on it. That's the main reason why I spelled my daughter's name Leah (her middle name which is what she goes by), when people suggested Leigha. So, I chose to spell her first name, Courteney, uniquely by adding the extra e.
