Feeling very depressed. My newborn baby daughter has down syndrome.?

I posted a question about a week ago about the naming of my daughter. Well, Melody Jade has down syndrome, and many a heart problem. We have been told she won't live past her 1st birthday. Feeling very depressed. Has anyone been through this?

So many heart problems can be corrected with surgery. Please reach out for a support group in your area. There you will find many parents and families who have been where you are now.
Reply:I have read your other questions after the notice from other posters and think that this could well be genuine as you have mentioned your 1 year old daughter in 2 of them so I presume this is your newborn you were asking about names for 3 days ago.

I am sorry for the news - they may be wrong is it possible to treat the heart condition? I haven't been through this but have a friend with a down syndrome son but he doesn't suffer from a heart condition. It took her a long time to accept her son had a disability but now she realises that it is still her son and he can love her and achieve in life just as she can give him a mothers love back. It is not easy to accept your child is going to be different but you will get through this and bond with her.

If she really has a short life expectancy enjoy every second you have and take as many photos and videos as you can.

My thoughts are with you - all the best for the future and congratulations for having Melody Jane in your life for now.
Reply:I am sorry to hear about your precious daughter having such problems!

But I have to urge you to find out all you can about her condition(s) and make sure you get second opinion, even a third opinion especially about her life expectancy because the doctor is just taking a wild guess at this.

You are her parent and it is up to you to get busy and educate yourself for your daughter's sake, okay? It's a shock I know but just do this for her, okay?
Reply:You were a young teen asking "Am I pretty?"* and then you had a 1yr old and now...

It's not really a funny thing to joke about, or a nice thing to make up.

* No. A bit on the skanky side, to be honest. Stop over-tweezing your brows like that, stop using home bleach kits on your hair. The whole effect is a little "Mister, I only charge $5 if you don't get any in my mouth."
Reply:Not exacly, but i did lose an infant daughter with a heart defect when she was 7 months old. That was 24 years ago. Try to find a support group for families with down syndrome children. I feel for you, as that must be a hard situation to deal with. Hope you find the strength to accept what you cannot change... Melody Jade is a beautiful name... take care.
Reply:You're a sad person. There are people who DO have to deal with situations like this, and you're making a mockery of them by posting this question. Go play with your Barbies.
Reply:I am so sorry ur going thru this. But dont give up hope. My sister was born with Spina Bifida and was told she wouldnt live past a couple of days. She was 27 when she passed away in 2006. With all the technology we have now, that we didnt have then they can work miracles. Doctors really dont know when someone will pass away. Just pray and pray alot. God always answers.
Reply:GET A LIFE!!!

Babies Uber hit it on the head with her answer- and I completely agree. Why would you make up something like this???!!!???

Further, why do people post such ridiculous questions- which are clearly untrue- and not hide their other questions or answers??? Sure.

Grow up! Here's a thought- get a book, sit down and sound out the words to make sense of the text. That should keep you busy for a time.
Reply:i am so sorry for you and melody jade!!! i have never been through this but we are all hear to listen if you want/need to talk!!!
Reply:My brother and his wife have a daughter with Downs. She was born with heart problems and had to wait for surgery. The good news is that she had her heart surgery has a tiny baby and is now 5 years old. She is small for her age. But is doing good.

Don't give up on your daughter, pray and love her....hope for a miracle.

My brother and his wife have talked with other parents with Downs children to help them through this. If you would like to e-mail me, I could forward your information to my sister in law. Maybe she could help you in some way.
Reply:hugs

XOXO
Reply:You know what you really need to get a ******* reality check. Your a coward and evil person. Making up a story about this isn't funny at all. You are one of those girls that will never learn. You need to be poped one and set straight. One day when you keep doing this petty kid stuff it will bite you in the *** and you won't know what hit you. I feel sorry for you , you are a sad pathetic person and deserve to be banned from here !
Reply:If what everyone is saying is true -- that you made this up and you're a young teen looking for attention....

Not cool. At all.
Reply:I agree wholeheartedly with Babies Uber Alles. That's not funny to joke about at all. It's really sad that teens need to come on here with fake stories to get attention. I hope you really DO have a child with DS someday, so you can see just how serious it is.
Reply:Im SO sorry! how did this happen???did you have any genetic testing done beforehand???did everyhting look fine from your end, was there a chance or a total shock??! im so sorry darling...fill us in on how something like this couldve happened...ill pray for you and your little angel tonight
