Does anyone have a idea what's wrong with my baby rat?

I have a fancy rat who had babies 17 to be exact. The runt died I'm supposing from heart problems as most say they do. They're 1month old as of today and 1 of the 16 babies (jade) is acting strange. Behaviors include acting extremely scared yet not trying to get away. Sometime she shakes, I couldn't get her to eat, she just sits in your hand or in your lap without moving much besides looking around. When I put her back into the rat cage she goes to the corner and sits. At first I thought rabies but there isn't anyway she could have been exposed. Is there any other diseases that might say run in her family or something to the such? It doesn't make sense to me, I can't figure out if she's in pain or gone mentally retarded.

She may have been injured at birth. 17 is an awful lot of babies for one rat to have. She may also have some type of birth defect or an infection. With that many babies I'd tend to think a brain injury at birth or birth defect rather than disease or infection. Vets that will treat rats are few and far between and most would just say to put it to sleep. You'll probably have the best advice on treating the little rat coming from some of the online rat fancier's websites. I hope she gets better.
Reply:I don't have an answer for you but I just want to say some people can be real insensitive jerks ! I hope your little ratty gets better.

To those that are posting useless crap - you live a very sad life if that's what you consider fun because you have nothing better to do.
Reply:maybe you should take her to the vet.
Reply:Rats don't carry rabies.... but you should take her to a vet

if she's not eating, she may have become hypoglycemic
Reply:he needs to get laid
Reply:I don't know anything about rats, but when piggies act like that it usually means they have some sort of internal infection. Maybe the web will help...good luck.
Reply:It sounds like she's sick, a trip to the vet would be the best thing for her. (yeah, it's a 'well duh' kind of answer) I hope she gets better though :)
Reply:look feed it to a snake then eat the rest of them in a good emeril recipe
