i am 35 weeks along and i finally came up with a name that i actually like but everyone else downs it.... some just like ellie and not jade or they like jade and not ellie...i would like to know your opinion
A baby girls name ellie jade.. would like to know what you think?
Don't like the name at all. The name Ellie reminds me of 'The Beverly Hillbillies". Jade? A precious stone? A boy? A girl? Please remember that the child will be stuck with whatever your pick for their ENTIRE LIFE. Just an opinion.
I already have a girls name picked if I were to ever have a baby girl and it's "Hannah Dorthea". I think Hannah is just pretty and all of the Hannah's I have ever met have been sweet caring girls. "Dorthea" was my grandma's name and I think it is pretty also and would hopefully make a connection through the generations of my family.
Reply:i think Ellie sound too much like a nick name,i think Ella Jade sounds better, you can always call her Ellie as a pet name.Conrats and good luck.
Reply:I think it sounds very nice.. but I hope Ellie is a nickname for something. I don't think Ellie stands alone as a first name. It is cute for a little girl, but as an adult, your daughter will likely want a fuller sounding name. How about
Eleanor Jade
Elisabeth Jade
Elaina Jade
Elaine Jade
Eileen Jade
Reply:How about Ella Jade? And you could call her Ellie!
Reply:Personally - not a fan. What about Ella instead?
Reply:I absolutely love it!
Reply:It sounds cute, but if I had a girl I would call her Carly, and if I had a boy I would call him Nathan.
Reply:Well I guess I can answer this from experience. My name is Ellie. I actually really love my name. I like that there are not that many of us out there. Its unique.
My parents were not obviously thinking when they selected my middle name. My Initial is M. So most people ask me if my middle name is Mae.. like Ellie Mae.. but its Marie. So just don't make her middle name start with an M and you should be in the clear with the Ellie Mae jokes.
I know this might sound sorta weird... but it looks nice in cursive %26amp; its easy to remember.
Even though Ellie is already a nick name for most people, my friends and family actually shorten my name to just El most of the time.
To those who say that it doesn't age well. I mean i'm almost 18 and I don't really find it all that childish. I think its cute for a little girl and I kind of think it adds character and uniquness as you get older.
I would def. go with your instinct. I hope my insight helps you a little. I like my name and think your daughter will too.
-ellie
Reply:I like them switched around Jade Ellie......
Reply:Don't do it, it sounds too much like Ellie Mae from "The Beverly Hillbillies." For your child's sake choose another name.
Reply:Cute but I don't think Ellie would age well. You could use Ella Jade and call her Ellie.
Reply:Ellie is too cutesy IMO, and Jade is really stripper trashy
Ella June would be sooo much better IMO
Reply:i like Ellie but not Jade
Reply:I LOVE LOVE LOVE it I think its very pretty and cute when you say it :)
Reply:I think both names are very nice. In our culture the meaning of a name also emphasizes the personality. Try and look into the meanings of the name and that should hopefully make your decision. Good Luck %26amp; Congrats!
Reply:well im call ellie so ellie is a nice name lol but ellie jade sounds nice dont you like jade summer but yea ellie jade is a really nice name stick to what you like shes your baby
Reply:I know there are a lot of you who will disagree, but instead of thinking of a name that is cute for a girl, think of one that is strong yet feminine. Think about it, a girl will usually give up her last name when married, so her first and middle names are what tend to define her in a way. A boy has his whole name always, and his last name usually defines who he is or gives him a sense of belonging.
Ellie Jade is cute but who will she become being defined by that name? It does sound a lot like the hillbillies girl, Ellie Mae.
What about the name Elise (pronounced ee-lease)as a first name, use Eli as a nickname for her, but when she's older, she'll have a strong name to fall back to, like when she's in law or med school. The Jade, I'm not so crazy about, just because I've met a couple of girls with the name and they both were a little flakey. What about Jaden, takes it out of the "gems" and gives it some substance.
Elise Jaden...sounds nice and still has the base of your original idea, yet is a stronger and still feminine name.
Reply:I like it! But I have to agree with some of the other people. Ellie is probably better as a nickname. It will also give your daughter more freedom to choose.
Reply:I like it because it sounds girlie!
Reply:I think each name is nice on its own, but I'm not sure I like how they sound together. Ellie seems more old-fashioned, and Jade seems more modern. But, if the names have meaning for you, then go with it.
Reply:I love it!
